The POI Foundation is pleased to announce that it contributed $3500 to Hawai’i Foodbank.
Our gift provides important nourishment to families, neighbors, keiki and kūpuna at risk of hunger. And when we nourish one another, we’re not only filling plates. We’re sharing our aloha, extending dignity and providing hope for a better tomorrow. Together — when we nourish our ‘ohana today, we can end hunger tomorrow.
With support from his community, John White founded Hawaiʻi Foodbank in 1983 with the intent of providing food so that no one in Hawaiʻi goes hungry. All the equipment used was donated by local companies and included a flatbed truck, two refrigerated containers and a three-ton forklift. In the first month of operation, John and the team distributed 4,000 pounds of food. By the end of its first year of operation, Hawaiʻi Foodbank distributed 380,000 pounds of food while working with 75 agency partners.
Mission: At Hawaiʻi Foodbank, our mission is to nourish our ʻohana today while we work to end hunger tomorrow.
