The POI Foundation is pleased to announce that it contributed $3500 to the “Beyond the 4 Walls Christian Ministry“. Beyond the 4 Walls Christian Ministry is a 501(c) nonprofit, faith-based outreach serving the houseless community on the Island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. Founded in 1999 by the late Pastor Roger De Asis, whose heart for compassion shaped every part of its mission, the ministry continues to honor his legacy through the dedicated leadership of Pastor Derek Shimatsu and Pastor Wayne Taniguchi along with Pastor Roger’s daughter Michelle Miyata, her family, and a faithful team of volunteers who freely give their time and love.
From its very first gathering at Ala Moana Beach Park in 1999 to today’s weekly outreach, Beyond the 4 Walls has remained a steady beacon of hope. Rain or shine, the team sets up and breaks down each week to offer uplifting messages of faith, prepare and serve meals for hundreds of individuals and families every Wednesday, and create a place where everyone is welcomed with dignity and care.
Each year, the ministry expands its reach through holiday events, traditional holiday meals, monthly clothing giveaways every last Wednesday, and toiletry gift bags distributed three times throughout the year. Every effort is made possible through donated resources that go directly back into serving the community, continuing Pastor Roger’s Legacy of Love and meeting the needs of those living beyond physical walls.
The ministry extends heartfelt gratitude to every person who has supported this mission. Your generosity helps sustain a lifeline of compassion for the island’s houseless community and ensures that Beyond the 4 Walls can keep showing up, week after week, with love, hope, and the unwavering message that no one is forgotten.
Our donation will assist the Beyond the 4 Walls Christian Ministry to feed the homeless in Ala Moana Park for Thanksgiving 2025.
